Trophée du Cœur: a record edition for children cardiac!
The Trophée du Cœur, organized for the first time in 1997, is the oldest event produced by the association. On Tuesday, April 18th, the 26th edition kept its promises by gathering 300 golfers in the magnificent setting of the Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche Golf Club, and broke records because for the first time we will be able to operate on 15 children at the end of the event!!!
The Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche Golf Club offers an idyllic setting for the Trophée du Cœur, so the day's program had to match the courses. That's why we offered golfers meals served in the Club House, a tombola with dream trips to be won, exceptional prize-giving ceremonies, waffle and cocktail stands on the terrace, snacks on the course and tee gifts.
To ensure the smooth running of this program, we were able to count on the help of an army of "red ants", nearly fifty volunteers who worked from morning to night to set up, serve, sell, tidy up and clean up... This event could not go on without their precious gift of time.
To brighten up this golfing day under grey skies, Nadia, who turned 6 on April 5, was delighted to come with her host family. Living in Niger, it was impossible to operate on her in her own country. Thanks to our chain of solidarity, a few weeks ago she underwent heart surgery at the Marie Lannelongue Hospital, near Paris. Since then, she's been doing wonderfully well, and is now a bubbly little girl who has gone out to meet golfers. Nadia also discovered the joys of golf alongside her dad and foster brothers, who were taking part in the competition.
In order to save children with heart problems like Nadia during this event, it is essential for us to keep our organizational expenses to a minimum, so that we can devote the maximum amount of funds to the children's operations. We are very fortunate to be able to count on the generosity of our partners, who are ready to offer us their products or services. It is largely thanks to them that we can announce that this year's event broke all records, as 15 little hearts will soon be able to undergo surgery and go back to life in good health.
