Mission in Senegal: the little hearts all grown up!
On May 4, a team Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaquearrived in Dakar, Senegal for a week of consultations. Among the 113 children consulted, the team had the immense pleasure of seeing former children who had undergone surgery and become adults, sometimes married, parents and simply cured. In this article we tell you some of their beautiful stories.

Léontine
You may remember Léontine, whose operation was financed by Cadum and whose story you discovered in a series of videos. She's now a little girl aged 8, whom the team met up with again 4 years later. She's in great shape and as cheerful and smiling as ever. We were delighted to learn that she has just started school and is doing very well.

Fatou Bintou
What a joy to see Fatou Bintou again, operated on at the age of 17 in 2011. Now 25, she has become a beautiful young woman who has given birth to a healthy 6-month-old baby boy.
The icingon the cake: she has remained close friends with Babacar, the boy she flew home with following their operation in France. The 28-year-old was also seen again during the mission, and continues to lead a healthy adult life.

Cheick
Operated on by Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque in 2010, Cheick is now 25 years old and has become a nurse's aide in Dakar thanks to the Association's school sponsorship. As part of his work at the hospital, he spotted a child with a heart condition and advised him to meet our medical team. Check is doing wonderfully, and thanks to him, the little boy will soon be welcomed in France. It's a real source of satisfaction for us to see that the great chain of solidarity continues through the years.

Letters to families
It can be a long wait to be seen in consultation. That's why we had the wonderful idea of asking children who had already undergone surgery to write a letter to their host family. As a result, over 50 letters were brought back to France. All equally beautiful and touching, they testify to the immense gratitude the children have for their loving families.
