Kap to Cap: 22,000 km by motorcycle from North Cape to Africa for saving children

05.09.2020 - Runners from the heart
Lolo Cochet, YouTuber and biker, is known for his adventures, his challenges, always more crazy and extraordinary, which he shares in video on his channel. At the beginning of the year he set off from the North Cape in Norway, the northernmost point in Europe, to reach the Cape of Good Hope at the tip of South Africa. On his motorcycle (a Ténéré 700 generously loaned by Yamaha), and accompanied by his sidekick Amaury Baratin, they travelled the world from north to south to raise money for children with heart disease.

Before revealing the name of the lucky winner of the Tombola du Coeur, let's take a look back at this exciting adventure of solidarity!

The biker duo covered over 22,000 km of snow-covered roads and sandy tracks, enduring extreme temperatures ranging from -30° to +40°, but never losing sight of their goal and always showing courage and enthusiasm .
Sporting and united, they crossed 24 countries in 2 months, taking a few breaks along the way to meet children operated on by Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque. They met Larissa in Togo, Feliciano in Benin and Emmanuel in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Laurent and Amaury were able to recharge their batteries in the face of all the difficulties they encountered along the way.

Equipped with cameras, they relayed their epic journey in 10 extraordinary videos posted on Lolo Cochet's YouTube channel (followed by over 286,000 subscribers) and on his social networks. If you followed these episodes during confinement, they undoubtedly made you dream, shiver and travel with them. The fun they had during this adventure was infectious, and touched thousands of generous donors who took part in his online fund-raising campaign for children with heart disease. At the time of writing, the total raised is close to €90,000! A record sum for a Coureur du Coeur, which will enable 7 little hearts to be operated on!

Although Laurent and Amaury's trip was cut short by Covid-19 and the gradual closure of Africa's borders, their adventure of solidarity did not end there. Indeed, after several months of immobility in Angola, the motorcycles of our two adventurers have finally been repatriated to France. Yamaha, a partner in this project, decided to donate Lolo's motorcycle as part of a major Tombola du Coeur. Thanks to the 20,000 tickets sold in no time at all, a cheque for €100,000 was presented to the Association, in Barcelonnette, on Sunday September 6, 2020, in the presence of Laurent Cochet. 8 more children with heart conditions will soon be able to benefit from the life-changing operation as soon as the reopening of borders allows.

Thank you to all those who helped save the lives of these children with heart attacks through this incredible adventure!

And the lucky winner of this heartfelt tombola is Franck Girardin! Thank you for your participation, and bon voyage!
