The development of E-Health actions helps to improve the quality of the child care. This willingness to go further and closer to children is part of the genesis of Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque's mission: that of enabling all the world's children to benefit from technological advances and providing them with the quality of care we would wish for our own children.
The Francine Leca Foundation under the aegis of the Caritas Foundation, has the mission to finance the E-Health projects of Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque such as the training of doctors via the 5/5 application and the development of teleconsultation in order to improve the medical care of children. The Francine Leca Foundation is entitled to receive tax-deductible donationsfrom the IFI.
The "5/5 Training" is a mobile-learning application designed to train the world's doctors in cardiopediatrics. Launched in March 2020 by Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, the application is enjoying growing success and has just been awarded a prize at the Mobile Learning Awards 2021 organised by Teach on Mars.
I offer a 5/5 teaching of Pediatric Cardiology. Why this title? Because it's symbolic! In aeronautics, 5/5 means that the message is received loud and clear.
In addition, it will be an excellent mnemonic for doctors because all our training courses are also available in 5 modules.
100% mobile training levels, simple, practical and useful
- Short and didactic videos with the training doctors,
- Immediate quizzes,
- Revision sheets,
- A toolbox to allow learners to easily find course documents,
- The association of digital diagrams with videos for better interactivity and understanding.
Funded from the outset by theBoston Scientific Foundation, the "5/5 Training" application of Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque enables all corresponding physicians to receive training in cardiopediatrics, thus enabling better care of underprivileged children with heart disease around the world.
Each training course is composed of 5 modules, short and didactic videos with the medical trainers, immediate quizzes, review sheets and a toolbox to easily find the documents.
There are 21 courses in total: general courses, echocardiography courses and courses on the main congenital heart diseases.
In the expert program, Pr Francine Leca proposes a series of 12 case studies (dossiers) in order to develop them and make a critical analysis of them both from a diagnostic and therapeutic point of view.
"We know the end of the story, it's obviously much easier! But if there has been an insufficiency or a diagnostic or therapeutic error it will allow us to see where the cause lies.
The best treatment for a heart defect in a child requires a "no-fault" sequence for :
1. Diagnosis
2. The therapeutic decision
3. Surgical Tactics
4. Surgical technique
At all these levels there can be a loophole. It must be detected, analyzed and not reproduced. You can only make progress by recognizing your mistakes. We all make mistakes. ».
Professor Francine Leca
A big thank you to the group Abbott. As a long-time sponsor of face-to-face physician training for the past 15 years, it was quite natural that the group decided to join the project by participating in the financing of several case studies of the Expert Program.
Based on the success of the Global program, and in order to allow the most motivated people to improve their training, the Francine LECA Foundation wishes to launch in 2021 an ADVANCED program for the learners of the first program, and for cardiopediatricians.
There are 15 courses in total: in-depth courses on complex heart disease, treatment and follow-up of congenital heart disease, surgical repair techniques etc.

TO DIAGNOSE CHILDREN'S HEART DISEASE IN REAL TIME IN THE MOST REMOTE AREAS AND IMPROVE THE CARE OF CHILDREN
Improving the quality of diagnosis for better care of children
In addition to financing up to 6 humanitarian missions per year, the Philips Foundation equips the Association's referring doctors in the countries with "Lumify": ultra-portable ultrasound scanners for immediate images of the hearts of children seen in consultation.
This device is very practical for field teams since the cardiac probe plugs into a smartphone or tablet. This allows to exchange live or by email the ultrasound files in order to solicit the French teams to refine the diagnoses.
Universalizing access to child care
Thanks to this advanced technology, cardiac ultrasound becomes possible in situations of extreme mobility faced by doctors in countries to diagnose children who cannot move around in large cities.
An ultra-portable, mobile and autonomous technology that makes it possible to go to areas where there is no electricity.
Connect our medical teams on site with their colleagues in France in real time anywhere in the world!
Medical teams of Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque use the "Reacts" platform: the first collaborative real-time tele-echo platform.
This system combined with the "Philips Lumify" allows to connect local doctors in real time with doctors in France by transforming an intelligent ultrasound device into an integrated tele-ultrasound solution.
Many thanks to the Foundation Philips, a historical patron of Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque.

The "5/5 Training" of Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque is an application that allows all doctors (cardiologists, paediatricians, general practitioners, etc.) throughout the world to receive free training in cardiopediatrics to enable better management of children with heart disease. Given the success of the application, and in the continuity of the Global Program and the Expert Program, we are launching the Advanced Program at the beginning of this year.
